Are perps prop firms legit? How to check any firm's payouts yourself

The five-minute check

  • Find the payout list. Look for every payout with its transaction, not a total or a wall of certificates. No list? Look the firm up on an independent tracker such as Payout Junction or payoutflow.

  • Open one transaction. Check the amount, the date and the sending wallet on the block explorer.

  • Match the wallet. The sender should be an address the firm publishes as its own.

  • Read the reviews properly. Filter Trustpilot for customer-initiated reviews and read the one-star ones.

  • Read the payout terms. Look for caps, held-back buffers, minimum days and rules that only apply at payout.

Quick answer

Most perps prop firms are legitimate challenge businesses: you pay a one-time fee for a simulated account, and the firm pays you a share of the performance you record once funded. What separates them is whether they can prove they pay. The strongest proof is onchain. When a firm pays in USDC and publishes each transaction, you can open any payout on a block explorer and check the amount, the date and the wallet it came from yourself.

What "legit" means for a prop firm

A prop firm is not a broker and does not hold your money. At almost every perps prop firm, including Propr, the accounts are simulated: your orders are priced off a real exchange, but they do not trade in your name. The firm earns from challenge fees and from what it does with the trading signals, and it pays funded traders out of that.

So "is it legit?" really means three questions: does it pay the traders who earn it, can it keep paying, and are its rules the same at payout as they were at purchase. A firm can be a real company and still fail on all three. The checks below answer each one.

The payout evidence ladder

Not all payout proof is equal. Here it is from weakest to strongest.

Evidence

What it proves

Can you verify it?

Testimonials and payout certificates

That someone made a graphic

No

A lifetime "paid to traders" total

What the firm says it has paid

No, unless it is backed by transactions

Trustpilot score

How reviewers feel, weighted by how the firm collects reviews

Partly: you can filter by review origin

Verified reviews on comparison sites

That buyers had an account

Partly: depends on the site's checks

An independent onchain payout tracker

That a third party found the payouts onchain

Mostly: only payouts on rails it tracks

Every payout with its transaction

That each payout happened, for that amount, on that date

Yes, on a public block explorer

A published reserve and revenue record

Where payouts come from

Yes, if the wallets are public

The payout evidence ladder, weakest to strongest: testimonials and certificates, lifetime totals, Trustpilot scores, verified reviews, independent onchain trackers, every payout with its transaction, and a published reserve and revenue record
Payout proof, weakest to strongest. Only the green rungs can be checked without asking the firm.

The bottom three rungs can be checked without asking the firm. Everything above them asks you to trust it.

Why a Trustpilot score is not enough

Trustpilot is still worth reading, but the headline score hides how it was built.

  • Invited reviews score higher. Alpha Market Flow analysed 14,277 Trustpilot reviews of 52 prop firms. Of the 6,857 with an origin label, 45.6% started with an invitation from the firm. Invited reviews averaged 1.03 stars higher than reviews customers wrote on their own, and only 5.6% of them were one star, against 29.6% of organic reviews (Alpha Market Flow).

  • A fifth of prop firm profiles carry a warning. On 30 September 2026, 47 of 232 prop firm Trustpilot profiles (20.3%) showed a guidelines-breach notice instead of a rating, according to PropFirmMap's tracker, as reported in Alpha Market Flow's 2026 prop firm reputation report. Two perps prop firms, E8 Markets and Crypto Fund Trader, had their ratings hidden for a breach when we checked on 2 November.

Trustpilot invited reviews across 52 prop firms: invited reviews average 1.03 stars higher, 29.6% of organic reviews are one star against 5.6% of invited reviews, and 20.3% of 232 prop firm profiles showed a breach notice

How to read a Trustpilot page in two minutes: filter to one-star reviews and look for payout denials, then check the label on each review. Trustpilot marks reviews that started with an invitation from the business. If most five-star reviews are invited and most one-star reviews are not, the score is flattering the firm. Do the same on ours: Propr had 4.4 from 67 reviews on 2 November (Trustpilot).

How to check a payout onchain, step by step

This works for any firm that pays in crypto and publishes its transactions. Here it is on Propr, with a real payout from 2 November 2026.

  1. Open the payout list. On Propr's transparency dashboard, the Payouts tab lists every payout with its date, time to pay, chain, transaction and amount. On 2 November it held 6,553 payouts.

  2. Pick any row and open the transaction. We picked a payout of 713.47 USDC, paid 7 minutes after the trader requested it. The transaction link opens it on Etherscan.

  3. Check the amount and status. Etherscan shows a successful transfer of 713.473124 USDC on 2 November 2026 at 09:16 UTC, confirmed in 6 seconds, for about $0.03 in gas.

  4. Check who sent it. The USDC came from 0x0353…cbB1d through the contract 0x6E81…cF24.

  5. Match it to the firm's published wallets. Propr's Addresses tab lists 0x0353…cbB1d as its hot reserve and 0x6E81…cF24 as its payout distributor. The money came from the firm's own published wallet, not from a third party.

Checking a Propr payout onchain in three clicks: pick a payout on the transparency dashboard, open the transaction on Etherscan, and match the sending wallet to Propr's published hot reserve and payout distributor

If a firm only shows screenshots, or publishes transactions without saying which wallets are its own, you cannot complete step 5, and the proof is weaker than it looks.

No payout list? Use an independent tracker

Two free sites follow prop firm payout wallets onchain and total what they find: Payout Junction and payoutflow. Both match each payout to its transaction, including payouts sent through Rise, a payroll platform whose payments settle onchain on Arbitrum, even when the firm itself publishes nothing. Three things to know before you trust a total:

  • They only count what they can see. Bank transfers and rails they do not track are left out, so a tracker total is a floor, not the full figure.

  • The wallet has to be the right one. Payout Junction does not list Vest at all, while payoutflow counts transfers from Vest's bridge contracts, which serve its whole exchange. Check how a tracker attributes the wallet before comparing firms.

  • Both earn from the firms they track. payoutflow uses referral links and runs tournaments sponsored by Vest and My Funded Perps, and Payout Junction promotes a discount code. Neither changes what is onchain, but it is worth knowing.

Propr is on both: on 2 November, Payout Junction counted $3.55M across 6,277 Propr payouts and payoutflow counted $3.54M, close to the $3.58M on our own dashboard. Payout Junction also lists Propr in its separate table of onchain prop firms, because its payouts come from addresses Propr publishes, through a payout contract.

What each perps prop firm lets you verify, sorted by verifiability: Propr lists every payout and its reserve wallets, Breakout, My Funded Perps, E8 Markets and Vest are traced by independent trackers only, and Crypto Fund Trader is not tracked
Sorted by what you can check yourself, not by size. Payouts: last 30 days to 2 November 2026, from Payout Junction and payoutflow.

Last 30 days to 2 November 2026. Tracker totals from Payout Junction and payoutflow, which agree within 1% on Propr, Breakout and My Funded Perps. Payout methods checked on 22 October 2026. Firms change these pages often, so check the live page before you buy.

Three things stand out. Propr is the only firm in this table that publishes every payout with its transaction, and its reserve wallets, itself. Breakout and My Funded Perps pay more each month and their payouts are traceable onchain, but neither publishes the list, so you rely on a tracker finding the right wallet. Vest's total is the largest, but it is counted from bridge contracts that also serve its exchange, and only one of the two trackers lists it.

Where the money comes from

A firm that pays today also needs to pay next year. Three numbers tell you whether it can.

  • Revenue against payouts. A firm paying out far more than it takes in is spending its reserve or its investors' money. On 2 November Propr's dashboard showed $5.70M of lifetime revenue against $3.58M paid to traders.

  • The reserve. Public wallets that hold the money set aside for payouts. Propr publishes three: margin on Hyperliquid for hedging, a hot reserve and a cold reserve, all on its Reserve tab.

  • A hedging record. A firm that only lives on challenge fees needs a steady flow of new buyers. Propr hedges part of its exposure onchain on Hyperliquid and publishes the positions, including the ones that are losing. On 2 November its realised hedging profit was $612,676, equal to 17.1% of everything it had paid traders.

None of these numbers is a guarantee. The point is that you can see them move, every day, without asking the firm.

Red flags in the payout terms

A firm can pay every payout it approves and still pay you less than you earned. Read the payout section of the rules for these before you buy.

Term

What it does

What to look for

Lifetime or daily payout caps

Stops paying past a set amount

A total per user, or a cap per day

Held-back buffers

Pays only part of your profit and holds the rest

"50% withdrawable" or a profit buffer

Minimum days before a payout

Delays your first payout

15 traded days or 30 calendar days

Consistency rules at payout

Checks your best day only when you ask to be paid

Best day under 40% to 50% of total profit

Drawdown changes after a payout

Tightens your account once you withdraw

Floor locks at the starting balance

Discretion clauses

Lets the firm deny a payout without a clear rule

"At the firm's sole discretion", "any trading we deem abusive"

Third-party payout rails

Adds a minimum, fees or a delay

Rise or bank transfer only, high minimums

At Propr there is no payout cap, no buffer, no minimum days and no consistency rule. Rewards are paid on demand in USDC from $20. One thing to know: a reward request sweeps all profit above the starting balance and resets the account to it, and positions must be closed first. All of it is on the rules page.

Is Propr legit?

Propr launched in April 2026, is built on Hyperliquid and is backed by SwissBorg. By 2 November it had paid $3.58M to 1,841 funded traders across 6,553 payouts, each one listed with its transaction on the transparency dashboard, next to its revenue, reserve wallets and hedging positions. The median payout over the last seven days settled about 10 minutes after the trader requested it.

What it does not have yet is a long record. Seven months is not seven years, and our review count is still small. That is exactly why we publish the data: you should not have to take our word for any of it.

Frequently asked questions

Are perps prop firms legit?

Most are legitimate challenge businesses: you pay a fee for a simulated account and receive a share of the performance you record once funded. The ones you can trust most publish every payout with its transaction, publish their reserve wallets, and have payout terms without caps, buffers or discretion clauses.

Are perps prop firm accounts real money?

At almost every perps prop firm, no. Accounts are simulated and priced off a real exchange such as Hyperliquid. The payout you receive is real, which is why checking payouts matters more than checking the account.

How do I check if a prop firm has paid out?

Find a payout list with transaction links, open one on the block explorer, check the amount and date, and match the sending wallet to an address the firm publishes as its own. If the firm publishes no list, look it up on Payout Junction or payoutflow, which track payout wallets onchain. If a firm only shows certificates or a lifetime total and no tracker can find its payouts, you cannot verify it.

Can I trust Trustpilot reviews of prop firms?

Use them, but filter them. Invited reviews averaged a full star higher than organic ones across 52 prop firms in Alpha Market Flow's study, and about a fifth of prop firm profiles carried a guidelines-breach notice in September 2026. Read the one-star reviews and check which reviews were invited.

Which perps prop firms publish their payouts onchain?

Propr and Hypernova publish every payout with its transaction and their reserve wallets. Breakout, My Funded Perps and Vest pay onchain too, so independent trackers such as Payout Junction and payoutflow can count their payouts, but the firms do not publish the list themselves.

Is Propr legit?

Propr has paid $3.58M to 1,841 funded traders (2 November 2026) and lists every payout with its onchain transaction on its transparency dashboard, along with its revenue, reserve wallets and hedging positions.

How fast does Propr pay out?

Over the seven days to 2 November 2026, the median payout settled about 10 minutes after the trader requested it, according to Propr's transparency dashboard. In October, 99% settled within 24 hours.

What are the warning signs of a bad prop firm?

Payout caps, held-back profit buffers, consistency rules that only apply when you ask to be paid, vague "sole discretion" clauses, a hidden Trustpilot rating, and payout proof that you cannot check yourself.
